Why SEO Copywriters Suck

As an SEO copywriter, I often wondered why so many people seem to think it is a challenge to find a good writer. I am a good enough writer, and have always been pretty easy to find.

But it’s not just that people believe SEO copywriters are hard to find, I see my trade getting slagged every other day by otherwise coherent business folks. “What gives?” I think.

But many people have been burned. As a result, they say (and truly believe) that SEO copywriters suck.

This of course goes against everything I know to be true.

But then today, on a project I am working on, one of the “writers” had this little nugget tucked-in there:

You ahve to make sue that all of the marketing tools are legit and make sure that you know what all you will be doing and how you can do it because if you only know a little bit ten you will be scammed. His see barley had anything on it and there for you could not learn a thing about it. Be careful in the future.

And this, in a nutshell, is why SEO copywriters suck – because this person has been labeling themselves and hiring-out as an SEO copywriter.
This is an example of what happens when something goes horribly wrong with the Internet.

This content cost us 67 cents, which was in fact, paid.

Shame on us – we paid for something useless. We also blacklisted the writer, and they lost any hope of our next 67 cents – but the fact remains, they were paid for this.

And that is a sterling example of what is wrong with the Internet.

If this were a direct mail piece, it would have never been purchased until it was at least forced back into the English language. If this were a script, it would be passed-back until it was able to be understood. If this were an ad, an article, a hand-held deliverable of any kind, it would be likewise dismissed, forced-back, or ignored.

This is why SEO copywriters suck. On the Internet, complete and total bullshit called SEO copywriting might still receive a paycheck. Bile that would never survive a second, were it not for AdWords.

God help us…Google isn’t.
